Additional M Spa FAQs
How do I know which treatment is right for my skin?
With the variety of aesthetic treatments available at M Spa, our team understands it can be difficult to decide the best approach for your goals, skin type, and unique needs. Fortunately, in addition to conducting an in-depth consultation with our skincare professionals, our practice also uses state-of-the-art VISIA® skin analysis technology to help ensure your treatment plan is custom-tailored to address the specific concerns affecting your skin. This software can identify large pores, wrinkles, and brown spots, as well as areas of redness, rough texture, and hyperpigmentation to more precisely identify the best treatment for you. Rest assured that our team will be there to evaluate your needs and answer all of your questions during treatment.
Do med spa treatments use anesthesia?
Most med spa treatments do not use anesthesia, although there are many services in which a local numbing agent can be applied to improve patient comfort during your appointment. Topical anesthesia can be utilized prior to injections, microneedling, or other minimally invasive procedures depending on your preferences and comfort levels. In general, many patients do not feel the need to receive anesthesia and report little to no discomfort during med spa treatments.
Will my treatment require me to take off from work?
No, the treatments performed at M Spa usually require little to no downtime (if any) and most patients do not have to take time off from work. In fact, some services are so quick and convenient, they can be performed during one’s lunch hour with no recovery time necessary afterwards. The most common after-treatment reactions are swelling, redness, and mild bruising, depending on the nature of your treatment plan. Our team will fully inform you of what you can expect with regard to aftercare.
Does insurance cover any med spa treatments?
Aesthetic med spa treatments are not considered medically necessary, and therefore, are not typically eligible for insurance coverage. However, M Spa strives to make our services accessible to all and patient financing is available for qualified patients via CareCredit®, ALPHAEON® Credit, and Prosper® Healthcare Lending. These reputable healthcare lending companies offer approved patients a range of flexible payment plans to choose from, and are often utilized for cosmetic treatments and procedures. Please don’t hesitate to call our Reno-area office for more information about treatment costs or our financing options.
Where do aesthetic treatments take place?
All of our treatments at M Spa take place in-office at our private facility. Our luxury med spa was built from the ground up to provide patients with the ability to achieve their cosmetic goals with the utmost comfort, safety, privacy, and warmth. We also share a location with the surgical side of our practice, Reno Tahoe Plastic Surgery, to help ensure our facility is fully-equipped to address your needs and held to the highest standards of safety and sanitization. Dr. Tiffany McCormack and Dr. Nichole Joslyn, our board-certified plastic surgeons, are also available on-site, giving patients the peace of mind of undergoing their treatment at a physician-led facility.
When will swelling go away after my treatment?
Temporary swelling is a very normal reaction to many aesthetic treatments available at our non-surgical facility, particularly after facial rejuvenation and anti-aging services like injectables, fillers, laser resurfacing, and peels. The amount of time it takes for swelling to go down generally varies based on the type of treatment performed, the extent of invasiveness required, and your body’s own natural reaction to your procedure. Any post-treatment swelling usually resolves naturally within a few hours (or days) after your appointment, but over-the-counter medications can also be utilized to speed up the process. Our doctors also recommend prioritizing a healthy diet rich in protein, antioxidants, and zinc (meat, fish, eggs, leafy greens, fruits, veggies, etc.) to further minimize inflammation and facilitate healing.
How many appointments will I need to achieve the final results?
Multiple treatment sessions per year are often recommended with services like microneedling, laser skin resurfacing, injectables, and fat reduction (among other non-surgical therapies) to achieve the best possible results. That said, your provider will create a custom treatment plan tailored to your individual needs and desires for the outcome. While the number of appointments necessary to achieve the final outcome will vary based on a range of factors — such as the technique utilized and the severity of your concerns — most patients undergo three to four treatments per year on average. However, patients are also welcome to simply plan their treatments based on when they feel it’s time for a “touch up.”
Is there an age limit for med spa services?
No, our team determines whether you’re a good candidate for treatment based on your needs, goals, and medical history rather than relying on an arbitrary age limit. Our medical spa serves a diverse range of patients, from individuals in their late twenties to patients in their fifties and sixties looking to build confidence. Dr. McCormack, Dr. Joslyn, or our skilled team of aesthetic providers will speak with you thoroughly about your expectations for treatment. We would never recommend a service if we didn’t truly believe it was a safe and effective way to help you achieve your goals.
How can I save money on my treatments?
At M Spa, we are passionate about helping patients look and feel their best all year long. Keep an eye out for our seasonal specials and limited-time treatment packages to discover new opportunities to achieve your aesthetic goals at a discount! These offers are usually only available during a specific timeframe, so check back frequently to avoid missing out on our deals.
Are med spa treatments safe?
Yes, non-surgical treatments are safe, convenient, and effective when performed under the care of a board-certified plastic surgeon-led practice. Unlike medical spas that don’t have the on-site supervision of an aesthetic plastic surgeon, M Spa is fully equipped with the latest technologies to make your treatment as conservative and non-invasive as possible. By sharing a facility with the cosmetic surgery side of our practice, which is Quad A-certified, our team is able to offer patients every safeguard available in the extremely rare event of complication.
